Ian Shaw has released his gorgeous new bonus track Years, featuring Matt Kent. It’s available to listen to on major streaming platforms.
The touching duet was performed live back in September during Ian’s four sold-out Ronnie Scott’s shows. With their overwhelming stage presence and the clear chemistry between them, the performance became a fan favourite and was one to look forward to on the set list.
Years comes with some of the most emotional lyrics and passionate vocals you’ll hear this year. Its sentiments will get you in your feels, and is truly a glorious ballad to get in your emotions with. The simple video of the bare-footed two compliments the tone perfectly, and will have you humming along thinking about the good times.
Discussing the new release, Ian Shaw said:
“I was walking home from Soho when I spotted a friend having a cigarette outside Gerry’s in Dean Street. He immediately told me to go inside and check out this young American guy who had a basement chock-full of drunk Friday people completely enraptured. I was hooked. Later, Matt and I got talking and I resolved to write a song for us to duet on. When the Greek Street Friday album was under way, a song about music, memory and a deep conversation between two singers, generations apart was a must.”
Years comes hot on the heels of the release of Ian’s new album, Greek Street Friday. Its funky and bold soulful vibe draws inspiration from the likes of Billy Joel, Bowie, Steely Dan, Al Jarreau and early Elton John. It includes eleven autobiographical stories of people around the world.
