Following 2000's stunning, unconventional "Ghostsongs", jazz singer Ian Shaw went all mainstream with an acclaimed approach to the standards repertoire. Now he has emerged at the other end with a convincing album of originals that balances both extremes. Just listen to 'Hiraeth' and 'Forty Two' for a reminder of what an important talent he is.
